At Danbury Hospital, our board-certified thoracic surgeons provide surgical treatment for lung and esophageal cancer as well as for disorders and injuries to the chest, lungs, esophagus, and chest wall.

Whenever possible, our surgeons perform minimally invasive robotic surgery using our state-of-the-art robotic surgical system. We work closely with colleagues in other specialties, including pulmonologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, gastroenterologists.

Procedures

Our thoracic surgeons perform a variety of procedures including:

  • Lung cancer surgery for staging
  • Resection of lung for cure (lobectomy, pneumonectomy)
  • Complex sleeve resection (airways and vessels)
  • Minimally invasive surgery (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery —VATS)
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Treatment of complex airway diseases, including stenting and laser therapy
  • Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
  • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)
  • Resection of mediastinal masses
  • Management of pleural effusion including PleurX catheters
  • Chest wall resection and reconstruction
