Dr. Dahlia Plummer is a fellowship trained vascular surgeon, providing comprehensive care to diagnose and treat peripheral vascular disease. She offers a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical options for the management of both arterial and venous diseases.

“For a patient with suspected vascular disease, we need to carefully assess their co-morbid risk factors – including hypertension, diabetes, tobacco use and cholesterol levels. This assessment should also include a series of distal pulse exams. This is the ‘fifth vital sign.’ If patients have abnormal distal pulses—asymmetrical, faint or absent, for example – they should be referred to a vascular specialist, as this is a marker for cardiovascular disease. Since the majority of patients have subtle indicators of peripheral arterial disease such as pain when they walk, we would like to see them early to modify their risk factors and prevent serious complications.”
