New Milford Hospital, Community Partners Sponsor Drug Take-Back Day!

Free Community Service Scheduled for April 26, at New Milford Hospital

In an effort to provide the greater New Milford community a safe, eco-friendly means to dispose of outdated prescriptions and old over-the-counter-medications, New Milford Hospital, in partnership with the New Milford/CTRIAD, the New Milford Police Department and the New Milford Substance Abuse Prevention Council are co-sponsoring a free community Drug Take-Back Day. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and will be held at New Milford Hospital, 18 Elm Street parking lot in New Milford, Connecticut.

Guidelines for Medication Disposal

Area residents can bring unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications in the original containers including: pills, capsules, tablets, topical creams, cough and cold products, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, metered dose inhalers, thyroid hormones and naproxen. The take-back is not able to accommodate syringes.

Promote an Eco-friendly Disposal And Eliminate Prescription Misuse

To prevent the misuse of an unused prescription for pain killers many flush them down the toilet affecting the local water supply. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free service for safe disposal and one that best protects our environment, too.
