Westen Connecticut Health Network Relocates Sleep Disorders Testing to Offer 7 Day a Week Services in Danbury and New Milford

Effective July 15, Western Connecticut Health Network is consolidating outpatient sleep testing to two convenient locations in Danbury and New Milford, offering accredited seven-day-a week services for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related conditions. The newest location is the Ethan Allen Hotel, 21 Lake Avenue Extension (I-84, exit 4), in Danbury, along with complete services available at New Milford Hospital, 21 Elm Street, New Milford. Danbury Hospital’s outpatient sleep lab previously open three days a week at the Heritage Hotel, Southbury, has closed, effective June 28. At the Ethan Allen Hotel, patients will benefit from newly renovated hotel rooms with private baths in a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, supported by board-certified sleep specialists and a fully accredited program for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related conditions.

Between Monday, July 8 and Sunday, July 14, New Milford Hospital will accommodate network patients from Danbury Hospital who need to be scheduled for testing during this short transition period. The telephone number for Danbury-based sleep studies remains the same, 203-739-8033.

In 1995, Danbury Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center was among the first accredited centers in the State of Connecticut devoted to the practice of clinical sleep medicine and is acknowledged regionally as a distinguished program in its field. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine praised the Center for “excellent leadership, exceptional patient management, and highly supportive administration” following its reaccreditation site visit in 2005. The Sleep Disorders Center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of board-certified sleep specialists, certified sleep technologists, nurse practitioners, and an extensive support team.

Within Fairfield County, Connecticut, approximately 90,000 people suffer from insomnia and an additional 45,000 suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, a serious medical condition that increases ones risk for high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and premature death. Thousands of others suffer from additional sleep disorders, such as sleepwalking, narcolepsy, and restless legs syndrome.
