Surgery

New Milford Hospital is approved by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer, for its quality commitment to caring for patients with cancer. The Diebold Family Cancer Center recognizes the important role of surgery for many patients in cancer treatment - to remove cancer cells and prepare for additional therapy to support long-term health. Surgery is often the first line of defense with any tumor; and fortunately today, surgery can target the exact location of the tumor, and offer minimally invasive techniques that leave much of the surrounding healthy tissue untouched.

Our surgeons provide consultative care for all patients who may be considering surgery, depending upon the type of cancer and the stage of the disease, as well as the patient's age and general health.  Patients have a variety of surgical options for cancer through Western Connecticut Health Network, which includes Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital, including robotic surgery and fellowship trained surgeons in many cancer disciplines.
