Danbury Hospital Launches Winter Sports Injury Video
Online learning targets weekend warriors
Danbury Hospital Center for Advanced Orthopedics and Spine Care Team sees their share of injuries with the change in temperature. In an effort to raise awareness of risk and new treatments, the hospital has launched an online educational video with information on a common procedure dealing with injuries common to those of us at work all week and then perhaps hitting the slopes on the weekend.
The short video, featuring orthopedist Dr. Ross Henshaw, discusses a minimally invasive surgical procedure called hip arthroscopy, a successful and diagnostic tool for patients that develop a labral tear. The tear is a common injury for those who enjoy being active but perhaps exert an extreme range of hip motion and over time, the injury occurs.
The video shows how physicians perform the operation using tools and a camera about the size of a number two pencil. The 5 minute educational presentation is available on line at various social media sites and DanburyHospital.org.
