Workshop for Portuguese Speaking Parents who Have Lost a Child or Spouse
The entire family is affected when a child dies. Parents are experiencing their own loss, yet they must continue parenting other children who are also grieving. To help support Portuguese-speaking parents and caregivers at this difficult time, Healing Hearts will offer a free workshop “What to do for Kids after Loss of a Parent or Sibling” to be held on June 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The workshop will be held in Portuguese and will take place at The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families at 73 Stadley Rough Road in Danbury, Connecticut. The workshop provides a place where parents can share and learn together. Childcare is available during the workshop.
The workshop will be facilitated by Debora Faria, LCSW, together with the support of Healing Hearts professional staff. Ms. Faria received her master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. She works for Family and Children’s Aid and has previously been a psychologist in Brazil, where she was born.
