Friday, May 14, 2010 - Danbury, CT

The Art of Caring, a gala event featuring art, entertainment and exceptional cuisine, will take place Friday, June 11, 2010, beginning at 7:00 p.m. This is the 25th year that Boehringer Ingelheim has hosted The Art of Caring which takes place at the company’s headquarters in Ridgefield, and benefits the patients and families served by Regional Hospice.

“We are extremely grateful that Boehringer Ingelheim takes such an active role in supporting patients and families,” says Cynthia Roy Squitieri, Regional Hospice executive director. “Over the past 25 years, this event has directly helped our agency raise funds to care for thousands of people. Funds raised also help cover the costs for our community bereavement programs offered through The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families,” she explains.

“This is a milestone year for The Art of Caring. We will have more art, more food, and more fun than ever before,” says George Mulvaney, chair of the event. “I encourage the community to join us for a spectacular evening. We will have an unprecedented showcase of work from more than 115 of our area’s finest artists. You’ll enjoy cuisine from some of the finest restaurants and caterers, accompanied by a variety of top-notch music.”

Well-known Newtown artist, Ruth Newquist, will be in the spotlight as the featured artist. Newquist is well-known for her New York SoHo cityscapes, New England architectural paintings and rural landscapes all of which will be available for sale at The Art of Caring. The gala will also include a wide variety of art available through silent auction or direct sale of fine paintings, creative photography, sculpture, pottery, glassworks, handcrafted jewelry and prints. Portraits and art-themed get-a-ways are among the silent auction items.

“For 25 years it has been our privilege to host this very special community event and benefit,” said J. Martin Carroll, CEO of Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation. “This year as Boehringer Ingelheim celebrates 125 years of its commitment to patients and families, it is fitting that we also celebrate a quarter of a century supporting Regional Hospice and the important work that they do to help patients and families in our community."
