Dr Matthew Kim Joins Danbury Hospital as Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine
Shohreh Shahabi, M.D., Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Danbury Hospital, is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Kim, M.D. as Division Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Director of Labor and Delivery in the Department of Obstetrics / Gynecology.
Dr. Kim attained his undergraduate degree from Yale University and a graduate degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed a residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Kim also completed fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of California in San Diego and has been active in the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Society for Gynecologic Investigation, Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
“Dr. Kim’s appointment strengthens Danbury Hospital’s efforts to enhance its comprehensive range of women’s health services,” said Dr. Shahabi. “We are committed to delivering a higher level of clinical excellence in maternal-fetal care and high risk pregnancies to women and their families throughout the region.”
Dr. Kim’s clinical specialties and expertise include advanced fetal ultrasound, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal echocardiogram, fetal transfusion as well as pre-conception counseling.
An author of numerous published papers in perinatal research, Dr. Kim has held various administrative and leadership positions, most recently serving as chief of inpatient obstetrics at Cedar-Sinai Medicine Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Kim is board certified in general Ob-Gyn and maternal-fetal medicine, and he is accepting new perinatal patients.
