Deborah Weymouth Named New Senior Vice President and Executive Director at New Milford Hospital

John Murphy, M.D., President and CEO of Western Connecticut Healthcare, has announced that Richard Henley, interim CEO of New Milford Hospital is stepping down and the appointment of Deborah Weymouth as Senior Vice President of Operations and Executive Director ofNew Milford Hospital.

Dr. Murphy praised Richard Henley’s strong leadership which helped the New Milford Hospital organization through historic milestones and some tough financial times. “Richard has a special skill in communicating with physicians and staff that promoted consensus and optimism. He developed very important relationships with staff, physicians and community that led to improved patient care, new equipment, systems and technology.  All of these efforts culminated in a stronger, more profitable organization, and ultimately, a successful affiliation with Danbury Health Systems which is now known as Western Connecticut Healthcare.  We are grateful for his many contributions,” said Dr. Murphy. New developments under Richard Henley’s tenure included:

  • formal affiliation with Danbury Health Systems,
  • full implementation of the Planetree patient-centered care model and integrative medicine program, and
  • investment in state-of-the-art imaging technology and radiation therapy including a low-dose CT Scanner, the Trilogy linear accelerator, offering advanced technology for image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and a 1.5 Tesla Open Bore MRI.

Deborah Weymouth is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of broad leadership experience.  She comes to New Milford Hospital from Thompson Health in Canandaigua, New York, a 400+ bed, six-member non-profit corporation, where she served in various senior positions since 1995, most recently as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of the Hospital.

Ms. Weymouth’s track record of achievements at Thompson Health is extensive.   She restored the system to profitable operations for the first time in six years; expanded service lines through innovative initiatives; implemented a program that improved patient throughput and dramatically decreased ED length of stay; and measurably increased employee satisfaction.  She successfully managed daily business operations for the hospital, seven off-site primary care physician practices, two urgent care centers including inpatient and outpatient, and clinical and support services.

Deborah holds a Master in Business Administration in International Management / Finance from Thunderbird Global Management School in Phoenix, Arizona and a Bachelor of Science - Education and Rehabilitation from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Ms. Weymouth will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of New Milford Hospital. “I’m delighted to be joining this organization and excited to be working with such a high caliber of physicians, nurses, staff and volunteer leadership.
