New Milford Hospital Hosts Pink Ribbon Wreath-Decorating Events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
New Milford Hospital, through the Breast Health Navigator program, is hosting pink ribbon wreath-decorating events throughout the area to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The wreath hanging event at New Milford Hospital will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 5-7pm as part of a Spirit Girls & Guys Night Out. On that evening breast health and cancer prevention education, Cancer treatment technology tours, gourmet Octoberfest tasting, Pink Ribbon Drum Circle, and massage will be available. According to Kathy Sullivan, RN, Breast Health Navigator at New Milford Hospital, “October is annually designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we use events such as the wreath decorating as opportunities to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer. Early detection and prevention education have been our best and most effective weapons.”
Pink ribbon wreath-decorating events are also scheduled at the following locations:
Kent Town Hall Wednesday, October 5, 9:30am
Bridgewater Town Hall Wednesday, October 5, 11am
NM Town Hall Wednesday, October 5, 3pm
Sherman town Hall Wednesday, October 12, 1pm
The New Milford Senior Center is also holding a Pink Tea in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at their wreath-hanging event on Wednesday, October 19 at 10:00 am. Registration is required and anyone interested in participating is asked to call the center at 860-355-6075, Joanne Wonsey.
A special Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Drum Circle is also scheduled at the New Milford Hospital Chapel on Friday, October 14 from 10-11am.
These events are free and open to the public. Breast cancer survivors and their families are especially requested to attend.
