Danbury Hospital is Recruiting Volunteers to Join its New Patients and Family Advisory Council
Your voice as a patient or family member of a patient is important in every aspect of your health care. Did you know that your perspective on experiences at Danbury Hospital can help deliver the best possible patient-centered care in partnership with your health care team?
We invite all who are interested to join us for an informational meeting on our newly forming Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) to be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 7-8 pm in the Hospital’s John Creasy Auditorium, 24 Hospital Avenue. To RSVP, please call 203-739-7262 and leave your name and contact information. Note: You may be aware of our exciting hospital expansion! We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you park in the RED GARAGE located on Locust Avenue and enter the building via the garage on Floor, where you’ll see a registration desk. Staff will guide you to the Auditorium.
The Hospital is seeking insightful current and former patients and family members to volunteer for this Council, which provides an opportunity to be part of a vital link between the Hospital and the community. Through monthly meetings (September 2012-June 2013), Council members will help to identify the needs and priorities of patients and their families in conjunction with Hospital professionals. The Council will work to strengthen communication among patients, families, physicians and staff, and offer input to Hospital leadership in planning and evaluating services, programs, policies and new facilities. Who would make a good member? Someone who can:
- Be a good listener and partner
- Respect others’ perspectives
- Be interested in more than one issue
- Draw from his or her personal healthcare experiences so others can learn
- Use emotional intelligence
- See beyond his or her own experiences
- Be enthusiastic about patient-centered care
- Interact well with all kinds of people and different levels of professionals
- Have realistic expectations
