Western Connecticut Health Network Opens New Outpatient Laboratory Services in New Milford
New Facility Supports Patients of New Milford Hospital
As part of New Milford Hospital’s commitment to a higher level of care, a new outpatient laboratory Patient Service Center has opened at 120 Park Lane in New Milford, just north of the Hospital on Route 202. All outpatients who currently use New Milford Hospital for lab services are encouraged to try this new location. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. This new site offers ample, free parking and expanded hours to serve the community, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 7 a.m.-1 p.m. For appointments, call 203-739-4999.
The new Patient Service Center is only minutes from New Milford Hospital and features the same highly skilled staff and quality of care, all backed by the Hospital’s relationship with Danbury Hospital as part of Western Connecticut Health Network. It joins four other locations to offer comprehensive outpatient laboratory services to patients and physicians throughout the region, which include Patient Service Centers at:
- 60 Old New Milford Road, Brookfield
- 79 Sand Pit Road, Danbury
- 10 South Street, Ridgefield
- 22 Old Waterbury Road, Southbury
Services performed at the Patient Service Centers include phlebotomy (blood drawing) and specimen collection for a wide range of analysis and testing. A physician’s lab test order can be faxed, electronically transmitted or hand carried to the center.
Western Connecticut Health Network performs more than 2.3 million laboratory tests on human blood and tissue samples annually. For the small percentage of testing that requires additional expertise, the laboratory provides physicians with access to reference lab information and support from Mayo Clinic, offering the most advanced laboratory expertise available anywhere.
“Health care is moving at an increasingly fast pace, and patients are moving in many directions – which is why we are integrating laboratory services across Danbury and New Milford hospitals, and in communities throughout the region,” said Paul Fiedler, MD, the newly appointed chairman of laboratory medicine.
Beginning in 2011, the network affiliated with Mayo Medical Laboratories, the reference laboratory for Mayo Clinic headquartered in Rochester, Minnesota, whose medical practice and medical research group specialize in the diagnosis and treatment for difficult patients. While Western Connecticut Health Network performs expert assessment for 97 percent of its laboratory testing right here in Connecticut, the remainder go to Mayo Clinic when additional scientific evaluation is necessary.
