Harvey Kramer, MD, FACP, FACC, a specialist in cardiovascular disease with Western Connecticut Medical Group and Danbury Hospital, has announced the expansion of his practice to serve patients with new Monday office hours beginning December 3 in Monroe - in collaboration with Internal Medicine Physician Kavita Joshi, MD, at 427 Main Street. Dr. Kramer is a highly experienced cardiologist offering physician services and cardiovascular testing at his a primary office at 22 Old Waterbury Road, Suite 203, Southbury. Dr. Kramer is board-certified in cardiology and a certified specialist in clinical hypertension with a clinical interest in preventive cardiology, cholesterol disorders, hypertension and women's health. He serves as Director of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at Danbury Hospital Praxair Regional Heart and Vascular Center, where an extended team of physicians, nurses and other professionals offer advanced expertise and the latest technology for patients with cardiovascular disease. Dr. Kramer also serves as an assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of Vermont School of Medicine, and has been a faculty member at the Yale University School of Medicine for more than 25 years.

A passionate and effective communicator, Dr. Kramer has a longstanding commitment to advocating for his patients. He served as President of the American Heart Association, Connecticut Chapter, and was a founding member of the AHA's Heritage Affiliate (NY, CT and NJ). He is also a former chairman of the board of directors of Ability Beyond Disability. Dr. Kramer has served as a volunteer medical consultant on many state boards and commissions to support improvements in community health.

As an accomplished clinical author and editorial reviewer on cardiovascular medicine, Dr. Kramer maintains a strong orientation to diagnostic and technical guidelines, while offering his patients practical information and support to take charge of their health and reduce risk factors for cardiovascular disease. He has been a frequent lecturer and medical presenter for the news media and community organizations. He co-authored the book, A Woman's Guide to Heart Attack Recovery, published in 2007.

Dr. Kramer's education and training included a cardiology fellowship at the New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center, a residency and internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (Chief Resident) and The New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, and a medical degree from the University of Virginia.
