Wednesday, April 23, 2014 - Danbury, CT

Western Connecticut Health Network Foundation - Kids Care Club

Catherine Herrick, a seventh grade student at St. Rose of Lima School in Newtown, has donated handmade, assembled activity kits to Danbury Hospital using monetary gifts she received from Christmas and her birthday.

Herrick's creative donation will be distributed to children visiting the Emergency Department at Danbury Hospital. Chief Development Officer Grace Linhard said "Catherine's creative, generous and compassionate efforts not only are an inspiration to her family, but also to her friends, classmates and the community."

As a result of her efforts, Herrick has been inducted into Danbury Hospital's Kids Care Club, a philanthropic organization for children and young adults under the age of 18.

For more information on the Kids Care Club, please call the Western Connecticut Health Network Foundation office at 203-739-7227.

About Kids Care Club

The Kids Care Club at Western Connecticut Health Network encourages children under the age of 18 to make donations in support of pediatric programs and services at Danbury Hospital and/or New Milford Hospital. Donations help purchase toys, videos/movies, video games and systems, and more to make children’s hospital stays more comfortable. Children raise funds in many ways, including: asking friends and family for donations; organizing penny drives, lemonade stands, or other events; raising funds in lieu of birthday gifts; or donating a portion of their allowance.
