Level II Trauma Center
Danbury Hospital is verified by the American College of Surgeons and the Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Level II trauma center, providing acute care to patients injured in western Connecticut and neighboring communities in New York. Level II centers provide initial and definitive trauma care 24/7/365, regardless of the severity of injury, as well as ongoing training and education for doctors, nurses, EMS and other health care providers. They also conduct outreach and education in the community.
Since “trauma” describes a wide range of wounds or injuries to the body caused by an accident or violence, we coordinate a highly specialized team of doctors, surgeons, nurses and other professionals to respond quickly and effectively to patients’ urgent and potentially life-threatening medical needs.
