Bethel Police Department Paramedic Program

In a unique program model developed with the Bethel Police Department, a paramedic provided by Western Connecticut Health Network is stationed at the Bethel Police Department to deliver dedicated advanced life support services in conjunction with the Bethel and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Departments. This model is the first police department-based paramedic level EMS program in the State of Connecticut. In conjunction with the Town of Bethel, oversight and management is provided by Emergency Medical Services at WCHN. Since October 1, 2008, Bethel Police officers have been utilized as first responders alongside WCHN paramedics and the Bethel and Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department ambulances to provide emergency medical coverage. With dedicated paramedics located in-town at all times, response times and service levels have exponentially increased. The citizens of Bethel can remain confident that with a 911 phone call to Bethel Police dispatchers, the highest level of pre-hospital care is only moments away.
