Redding Paramedic Program Emergency Medical Services

Western Connecticut Health Network serves the Town of Redding and all three of its fire districts with a paramedic intercept program. In 2009, EMS at WCHN and the Town of Bethel Police Department entered into a multi-year, mutual aid agreement with the Town of Redding to provide advanced life support services. The agreement allows both communities and their respective ambulance and rescue units to share paramedic services with each other and other local municipalities. Thus far, the program has yielded impressive operational performance including superior call coverage and a significant decrease in response times. The enhancement of pre-hospital cardiac care and early notification to Danbury Hospital's cardiovascular team has also played an important role in improving treatment times and survival from heart attack and other cardiac emergencies.
