Emergency Trauma Care

As a Level II Trauma Center, Danbury Hospital is equipped to provide care for any bodily injury, from minor injuries to severe trauma. We work closely with local fire, EMS, and law enforcement personnel.

Our Emergency Department doctors and specialty nursing staff, with support from our surgeons and other professionals, have the expertise, training and resources to treat any problem regardless of the severity. Our trauma team also receives patients from smaller, nearby hospitals that are not equipped to care for them.

Danbury Hospital’s emergency trauma care team is distinguished by its training, expert coordination, and 24-hour availability of specialized surgeons, specialists, and anesthesiologists. We have been recognized by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma for:

  • The commitment of our surgeons and doctors
  • Our consistently fast response
  • Accuracy, completeness, and quality of documentation
  • Our multi-disciplinary nursing program
  • A newly renovated inpatient rehabilitation unit
  • 24-hour availability of MRI testing and ventilatory management
