The Section of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Danbury Hospital is composed of an experienced team of board certified medical oncologists/hematologists that have special training in the care of patients with cancer and blood disorders. Our commitment is to offer a comprehensive, personalized approach to your care, with your active involvement as we strive to ease the stress of a cancer diagnosis. We are dedicated to the highest level of patient satisfaction and safety.

As part of our commitment to a multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer, our oncologists/ hematologists participate in case review discussions, where individual cases and treatment plans are reviewed by experts from many specialties in order to develop the best possible treatment plan for each patient.

Our doctors are also supported by trained nurses, dedicated pharmacists, a cancer care coordinator, social workers and dieticians. We are available for second opinions as well as primary consultation, evaluation and treatment.

A noted surgeon, researcher, teacher and author, Dr. Shahabi brings a wide range of experiences to her gynecologic work. Before joining Danbury Hospital, Dr. Shahabi was director of gynecologic oncology division and head of the Gynecologic Oncology Research Laboratory, Moses Division at Montefiore Medical Center, which is part of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Saldinger is a fellowship-trained hepatobiliary surgeon specializing in treating abdominal cancers, especially of the pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts and liver. He leads Danbury Hospital’s organizational commitment to excellence in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP).
