The Laboratory Information section provides information management services to the laboratory and throughout Danbury Hospital. Effective automated information management is central to the Departments’ patient care, educational, and clinical activities.
The LIS technical staff includes analysts with previous experience as medical technologists, laboratory supervisors, and laboratory clerical staffs who understand the patient care requirements, laboratory operations, and issues related to information systems. LIS support staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine uses multiple innovated information systems that are crucial to its patient care mission. LIS implements and supports mission critical laboratory information systems that serve the clinical and anatomical pathology laboratories (Cerner PathNet Laboratory® system) and the Laboratory Outreach Services (LifePoint™ system).
LIS implements and supports multiple interfaces between laboratory information systems at some client sites and the Danbury Hospital System. Clients may receive automatic report delivery via fax or printer. At selected sites, LIS supports remote order entry with labels and requisitions generation at the client site.
