Information for New Patients

Praxair Cancer Center

The diagnosis of cancer is an overwhelming experience. You probably have many questions about what it will mean to you and your family. We are here to help you. Our team consists of doctors, nurses, social workers, dieticians, and other support staff. Our Cancer Care Coordinator is a dedicated person here to support you and your family at this trying time. The Coordinator can assist you in answering questions, finding information, and addressing any concerns that you may have.

Cancer treatments vary depending on the type of cancer, stage of cancer, your overall condition, and the goal of the treatment. Your doctor and nurse are your best sources of information. Don't be afraid to ask whatever is on your mind. Make a list of questions before each appointment and bring someone with you to help take notes, since it may be difficult to remember everything that is said.

We also have a Resource Center where books, pamphlets, and computer access are available for you. A cancer diagnosis may cause a sense of urgency in making treatment choices. Take time to consider all the options available to you. Being informed will help you make the best decisions about your cancer treatment.

Living with cancer is not a challenge you should face alone. Enlist the support of family, friends, and your healthcare team. Remember, we are here to help you. Your experience is very important to us. Please feel free to call us at any time with questions or concerns.
