We provide psychiatric care for children, adolescents and adults. Our doctors offer inpatient and outpatient services including crisis intervention, medication management and group therapy.
We offer a higher level of psychiatric care focused on the unique needs of each patient.
The Danbury Hospital Department of Psychiatry has a strong commitment toward meeting the mental health needs of our community. Our goal is to provide high-quality mental healthcare in a timely manner. Our services include care at all levels of intensity for almost all psychiatric disorders in all age groups. Should there be specific mental health needs requiring additional care outside our department we will work collaboratively to ensure those needs are also met. Our medical staff believes strongly that education is critical to maintaining mental health as well as understanding mental illness and its treatment both for our patients as well as the community at large.
For emergency support, crisis intervention and services, please call the Crisis Hotline 1-888-447-3339 or call 211
Part of our educational commitment includes training for the next generation of psychiatrists as well as educating medical, nursing, and PA students about the nature of mental illness and the latest models of care and available therapies. We have a longstanding training affiliation with the psychiatry residency training program at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and all of our psychiatrists have faculty appointments with that institution. In the future our plan is to expand into clinical research.
We have a strong commitment toward seeing our patients holistically and working with them utilizing a recovery model of care. This includes partnering with our patients in their treatment planning as well as collaborating with both our medical and social work/psychology colleagues in order to achieve the best outcomes to maximize their level of recovery both psychologically, socially, and physically. We will do our utmost to locate services in the community that can meet the needs of our patients and work collaboratively with those other community services to insure the most comprehensive care is provided.
We hold ourselves to high standards, and strive toward building a multidisciplinary approach anchored in evidence-based psychiatric practice within a framework of ethical and professional standards set down by the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association. This includes a strong commitment to stewardship in educating both the medical and lay communities in combating the stigma and recognizing the signs of mental illness.
