Patient rooms are equiped with technology to manage your care by your care team. A member of your health care team will show you to your room and talk to you about what’s inside.
Your hospital room orientation will show you how to use call buttons, bed controls, showers, phones and television service.
They will answer any questions you may have about your room or room service. The patient room for your hospital stay chosen for you at Danbury Hospital will be based upon your admitting diagnosis and the bed availability on the day of your admission.
Calling Your Nurse from Your Hospital Room
In your patient room on your remote control there is a button to call your nurse.
When you press the button the nursing station is alerted that you need assistance. At the same time your care team is notified directly via special phones and a light flashes above your door. A member of your care team will respond to your signal as soon as possible. You will be able to respond to them by talking into the remote control like a microphone.
Television Service in Patient Rooms
Television service is free for patients at Danbury Hospital. We have a wide variety of television programming for you. Your television will already be working for you when you enter your room the first time.
Just like at home, the remote control in your patient room will control your television. The remote control contains a speaker and can be used with earphones. If you wish, your nurse can provide you with earphones to use.
The hospital has a designated area for the safekeeping of your valuables such as money, credit cards, and jewelry. When you stay in the hospital it’s best to leave your valuables at home. You will be asked to send home items of value whenever possible. For further assistance, please ask a member of your health care team.
Patient rooms have restrooms for patients. They are bathrooms for patients only. Family members and other visitors may use the public restrooms located in each unit or in public areas. If you need help finding them please ask a member of your health care team for the nearest public restroom.
Housekeeping and Linen Service
Our Environmental Services staff will clean your room every day you are staying in the hospital. Your linens will be changed as needed. Should you require an additional linen change, please notify a member of your health care team.
