Information for Community Clergy

Spiritual Care

Danbury Hospital works closely with community clergy and pastoral visitors to meet the religious and spiritual needs of our patients.

When a patient is admitted to the hospital, we ask about their congregational or parish affiliation and whether they would allow us to release their name to the congregation. This is consistent with HIPAA regulations. If the patient agrees, the information can be forwarded to an email address accessible by the parish or congregation. If the patient does not agree, the hospital is not allowed to let anyone know that the patient is here.

Based on our increased emphasis on privacy and safety, we ask that all clergy and other pastoral volunteers register in the Department of Spiritual Care. This procedure is mandatory in order for clergy and pastoral visitors to obtain a hospital identification badge. If there are any questions about this procedure, please contact the Director of Spiritual Care at 203-739-7059.
