Psychiatry Residency Program
Danbury Hospital Outpatient Psychiatric Center
The DHOPC offers a one year rotation to psychiatric residents at the PGY3 level. The clinical work includes experience with selected individuals, families, and groups.
Residents at the DHOPC see patients from the late teens through the elderly. Patients are typically Caucasian, females approximately equal males and present for evaluation and treatment for most Axis I diagnoses, such as:
- Affective disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Schizophrenic disorders
- Adjustment disorders
- Substance abuse problem
- Mental conditions associated with medical illness
Within the treatment population, residents also interact with patients manifesting mild/moderate mental retardation and the entire spectrum of personality disorders.
