Inpatient Services

Danbury Hospital offers inpatient psychiatric care for adult and geriatric patients. Our Crisis Intervention team provides acute psychiatric and behavioral intervention for patients in the Emergency Department.  We treat adult patients with the following conditions:

  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Dual diagnoses (mental illness and addiction)

We provide expert, supportive care for hospitalized patients with medical/surgical needs and accompanying psychiatric illness, dual-diagnosis (mental illness, plus addiction to drugs or alcohol) or who require detoxification.

Our psychiatric inpatient multidisciplinary team includes physician-psychiatrists, advanced practice psychiatric nurses, social workers, activity therapists, experienced psychiatric RNs and support staff.  The inpatient unit offers a variety of services aimed to stabilize acute psychiatric symptoms including:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Medication management
  • Group and recreational therapy
  • Electroconvulsive therapy
  • Referral to community resources
