Inpatient Services

Danbury Hospital’s skilled professional staff uses proven treatment methods to help every patient achieve an optimal quality of life. Our inpatient rehabilitation services include:

Neurological Rehabilitation: We help people with a chronic or acute neurologic disorder or disease to regain function. Led by physicians, our multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists meets regularly to discuss patient care and ensure that you receive the experience and expertise of a variety of clinical professionals.

Orthopedic Rehabilitation: In conjunction with the Center for Advanced Orthopedic and Spine Care, we meet the needs of patients recovering from orthopedic surgery. Through close collaboration with your referring physician, our physical and occupational therapists will customize a personalized treatment program to accelerate your rehabilitation. Whether you have had a joint replacement, spine or hand surgery, our staff is trained to guide you through the rehabilitation process and get you back to doing what you love to do.

Pediatric Rehabilitation: Specially trained to work with infants, children and adolescents, we offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation care.

Swallowing Evaluation and Therapy: We offer evaluation and treatment by a speech-language pathologist for people who find chewing and swallowing difficult. Treatment includes determining food textures and thickness of liquids that an individual can safely swallow without choking or aspirating food into the lungs. Additionally, our staff provides expertise on exercises to strengthen the muscles of the mouth and tongue, and techniques for safe eating and swallowing.
