DANBURY, Connecticut – September 28, 2016 – Zandra Cheng, M.D., a fellow-trained breast surgeon at the Western Connecticut Health Network Breast Center, will present a lecture on “Breast Cancer 2016 – Screening to Treatment” on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at Ann’s Place, 80 Saw Mill Road in Danbury. The Breast Cancer Awareness Month program is co-sponsored by the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital and Ann’s Place.
Dr. Cheng, who practices at the Western Connecticut Health Network Breast Center at 20 Germantown Road in Danbury and 22 Old Waterbury Road in Southbury, will discuss the latest updates in screening and treatment for breast cancer. Her presentation will be followed by a town hall question and answer session.
Dr. Cheng earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine and completed a residency in general surgery at The Penn State Milton S. Hersey Medical Center. She completed a fellowship in breast surgery at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Dr. Cheng is board certified through the American Board of Surgery.
Her clinical specialties include skin-, areola-, and nipple-sparing mastectomy for immediate reconstruction, oncoplastic techniques, perioperative opiate-reducing analgesia, breast cancer risk assessment and management. Her clinical research experience includes advanced breast imaging, effects of surgery on nipple sensation, use of a hand held probe for intraoperative margin assessment, as well as participation in many national clinical trials for all stages of breast cancer.
