DANBURY, Connecticut – September 6, 2016 – Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) recently welcomed fellowship-trained Dr. Vaagn Andikyan
to its Gynecologic Oncology Program which offers comprehensive services that focus on the individual needs of woman including risk assessment, screening, diagnosis, treatment and wellness provided by a friendly care team.
Dr. Andikyan earned his medical degree from I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy in Moscow, Russia and completed residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at the Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in Moscow and SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He was also a research scholar at the Yale School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences in New Haven.
Dr. Andikyan completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York and a Pelvic Reconstruction fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Andikyan served as an attending physician and assistant professor at the Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Perinatology in Moscow.

His clinical specialties which he is most passionate about include ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers, gestational trophoblastic disease, oncofertility, pre-malignant gynecologic diseases, tumor debulking, minimally invasive including robotic surgery, cancer risk reducing gynecologic procedures, clinical trials and research.
Dr. Andikyan joins the Gynecologic Oncology program at WCHN along with colleagues Dr. Thomas Rutherford, Dr. Robert Samuelson and Melissa Fairbairn, PA, a highly-skilled, cancer care team dedicated to providing the highest quality care with a compassionate approach to caring for patients.
An author of numerous scientific journal publications, a research fellow and co-investigator of several clinical trials, Dr. Andikyan is a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Society for Gynecologic Investigation, and the American Society of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Dr. Andikyan is now seeing patients at 95 Locust Avenue, Stroock Tower, 2nd Floor, in Danbury, and will be seeing patients in Norwalk.
