Norwalk Hospital inaugurates a new era in outpatient healthcare services for greater Norwalk residents with a Ribbon-Cutting Celebration today for the Hospital’s new Anne P. and Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center.

With 95,000-square-feet of new construction and 35,000 square feet of renovations, the McGraw Center is the largest expansion project in Norwalk Hospital’s nearly 125-year history.

The McGraw Center’s future-focused facilities, technologies and services include the new Bauer Emergency Care Center; the C. Anthony and Jean Whittingham Cancer Center; the James F. Guthrie, MD Center for Digestive Diseases; the Ambulatory Surgery Center; and the Christian J. and Eva W. Trefz Lobby.

Made possible through a transformative $10 million gift in memory of their parents from Harold W. “Terry” McGraw III, Robert “Bob” McGraw, Suzanne “Sue” McGraw and the Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Family Foundation, the Center was designed to meet greater Fairfield County’s growing demand for outpatient healthcare services.

“Like our parents, my brother, sister and I want to help ensure that our neighbors in Fairfield County get the most advanced and sophisticated healthcare available,” said Terry McGraw, chairman emeritus of McGraw Hill Financial, Inc. “We are extremely impressed with Norwalk Hospital and the value it provides to community members’ well-being.”

The invitation-only McGraw Center Ribbon-Cutting Celebration includes remarks from donors and Norwalk Hospital leadership, as well as ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the McGraw Center and the Christian J. and Eva W. Trefz Lobby.  Festivities also include refreshments and tours of new McGraw Center facilities.

“The McGraw Center furthers Norwalk Hospital’s commitment to high quality, compassionate care,” said Michael J. Daglio, president of Norwalk Hospital. “This is truly a new era of outpatient healthcare—personal, empowered and patient and family-centered.”

According to Howard B. Eison, MD, chairman of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation board of directors, the McGraw Center would not be possible without philanthropic support.  “We are deeply grateful to all of our donors for their remarkable generosity,” said Eison. “Their investment in the McGraw Center will enable Norwalk Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery for our community for generations to come.”
