Complementary medIn keeping with our emphasis on prevention and wellness, the Complementary Medicine Program at Danbury Hospital offers integrative therapies for your mind, body and spirit. Through our various programs and services, we are here to help patients cope and heal. Our complementary medicine services, available to hospital patients, are science-based, holistic and focused on educating patients to support their own health and wellness.

Using complementary medicine can help you cope with cancer and manage side effects. The program is managed by our Complementary Medicine Coordinator, a registered nurse experienced in oncology and complementary disciplines.Our services include relaxation techniques, energy work, music therapy, massage therapy and Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment (CARE) Channels.

  • Instruction on various relaxation techniques for stress reduction
  • Energy work including healing touch, therapeutic touch and reflexology
  • Music therapy, which provides live therapeutic music at the bedside to create a healing environment
  • Massage therapy for stress reduction and pain management
  • Continuous Ambient Relaxation Environment (CARE) channels on every patient’s television that have been proven effective for stress reduction and pain management
