Danbury, Connecticut – February 24, 2021 –Danbury Hospitalis the first CT hospital to achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery, recognized for providing the highest quality of care and patient safety by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), a nonprofit, patient safety organization dedicated to recognizing and refining surgical care.

Status as an accredited facility means that Danbury Hospital has met nationally & internationally recognized standards. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous requirements and inspection process are granted accreditation.

Esteemed Nuvance Health surgeons, Dr. Jamie Brunoand Dr. Marc Casasanta both completed the super-rigorous review to achieve this important quality designation.

Nuvance Health Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of Surgery, Dr. Jeffrey Nicastro said, “I have enormous respect for my colleagues, Dr. Bruno and Dr. Casasanta for not only completing the very difficult review process leading to this quality designation, and they did so during a historic pandemic. I couldn’t be more proud of this achievement and all that they do each and every day.”

Health care organizations and surgeons seeking accreditation by SRC undergo an extensive self-assessment and inspection process. This includes physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in the accredited program. The inspection is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization or surgeon improve its care and services.

“We’re proud to recognize Danbury Hospital for their commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this hospital is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
